Join percussionist and instrument maker Michael Kotzen for a cajón building workshop.
About cajóns: Originally from Peru, the cajón is a wooden box drum now widely used in contemporary acoustic settings to simulate a drum set and has become a staple in unplugged performance.
Participants will build their own instrument while gaining insight into the materials and construction that shape its sound. No prior woodworking experience is necessary. Each participant will leave with their own performance-ready cajón. Presented in collaboration with Soundworks Foundation.
