Workshops, Demonstrations, and Classes

Sam Maloof, one of America’s most revered woodworkers, had a tradition of sharing his craft. The Maloof Foundation continues this legacy by offering workshops and demonstrations in woodworking, writing, and art. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artisan, join us in the Upper Barns to learn, create, and connect with a community of makers.

Maloof Teen Advisors Program (MTAs)

The Maloof Teen Advisors (MTAs) Program offers high school students the chance to learn, create, and connect in a museum environment. It’s a space for young creatives to foster their artistic practice, network, and gain valuable behind-the-scenes experience.

What the MTAs Program Offers

  • A place to learn and create in a supportive, creative community

  • Opportunities for networking and resume-building experience

  • Hands-on experience in designing and testing art projects for educational programs

  • Leading tours and sharing knowledge of the Maloof home with peers

Our Story

The Maloof Teen Advisors Program began in 2010 with the “My Point of View/Mi Punto de Vista” initiative, aimed at high school students from the Chaffey Joint Union High School District. Students explored the Maloof Museum’s Mexican Folk Art Collection, learning about both the history of the artwork and how to give tours to their peers. Over time, the program expanded to include the Maloof’s furniture collection and more.

In 2014, we introduced summer internships for graduating seniors, providing hands-on experience in leading MTAs and working with our Education Team. Throughout the years, MTAs have partnered with local organizations, including the American Museum of Ceramic Art (AMOCA), Bright Prospect in Pomona, and the Boys and Girls Club of San Bernardino.

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, our MTAs continued to meet and create, working remotely to develop and present activities via social media and Zoom.
