Matters of Gravity

Matters of Gravity showcases the work of two Ojai-based sculptors, Tanya Kovaleski and Martha Moran, who each approach the concept of gravity in unique ways. Kovaleski’s bold, engineered wooden structures defy gravity with their upward arches, angles, and vibrant colors, while Moran’s work is deeply grounded, featuring intricate rock stacks that emphasize mass and balance. Moran's installation, Buddha Beach Maloof, draws inspiration from the vortex at Sedona's Buddha Beach, known for its thousands of rock stacks. Together, these contrasting yet complementary works invite viewers to contemplate the tension between weightlessness and stability in sculpture.
