No experience necessary

Join jewelry artist Espie for an immersive, hands-on experience working with copper and create a one-of-a-kind cuff you can wear every day. In this workshop, you will design and craft your own Boho Hand Stamped Copper Cuff from start to finish.

We will begin by determining the correct cuff size for your wrist. You will then choose from a selection of vintage, handmade custom, and factory produced stamps to practice your design on a sample copper strip. This step allows you to become comfortable with the tools and understand the amount of force needed to achieve crisp, clean impressions. As you stamp your cuff, you will periodically anneal the copper to soften it, allowing for deeper and more detailed designs.

Once your design is complete, you will refine and smooth the edges by filing and sanding. Using specialty pliers and your own wrist for sizing, you will shape the cuff for a comfortable fit. The piece will then be work hardened to help it maintain its shape, followed by the application of patina to enhance and highlight the stamped details. To finish, your cuff will take a spin in the tumbler for added strength and shine.

You will leave with a beautifully finished cuff and a detailed instruction sheet so you can continue creating at home.

Please bring a sack lunch.

Artists Biography

Despina “Espie” Buoncristiani is a lifelong artist. Her interest in jewelry emerged in her teens as she reimagined vintage pieces, and a college drawing class followed by a graphic design course led her to switch her major to Art. After working in several studios, she founded Espie Graphics in 1984, running it as a one-woman design practice. As graphic design shifted toward the digital, she longed for more tactile work, which led her to jewelry making, first with beaded designs and later with her own metal pendants in silver, copper, and brass. Continuing to expand her skills, she trained extensively in Metal Clay, earning two certifications and becoming a Senior Certified Art Clay Silver Instructor. Since 2015 she has taught more than 1,000 students across Metal Clay, Metalsmithing, Enameling, Etching, and other techniques, finding deep joy in helping others explore their creativity.
