Join artist Aleta Jacobson for a playful, process-driven workshop exploring the beauty and spontaneity of watercolor landscape painting through two very different moods and techniques.

We’ll begin with rolling autumn hills, painted loosely and expressively in a rich palette of deep greens, golden yellows, and warm oranges. Rather than painting every blade of grass or leaf, you’ll focus on energetic brushwork, flowing color, and capturing the feeling of the season while allowing the watercolor to move and blend naturally on the page.

From there, we’ll shift gears entirely and move into the quiet power of winter mountains. Working with a striking, limited palette of deep blues and black, you’ll learn how layered washes can create depth, distance, and atmosphere through value alone. It’s a wonderful lesson in restraint and in how much can be expressed with very little color.

Together, these two approaches offer a dramatic contrast in both mood and technique: loose and vibrant versus restrained and layered. You’ll leave with two very different finished pieces and a broader understanding of the expressive possibilities of watercolor.

All skill levels are welcome. No prior painting experience is necessary.

Please bring a sack lunch.
