What do painting, printmaking, and woodworking have in common? They all helped a multi-disciplined artist named Dodie Shoemaker find her creative spirit. Our upcoming Maloof Guild meeting will host a conversation featuring Shoemaker on how makers of any kind may struggle to find their own creative spirit.
As a painter, Dodie is deeply influenced by the landscape - color, light and passing clouds. She started printmaking with a graphic design career in her twenties - silkscreening posters for bands and clubs and now continues with works on paper. In 2010 she began her relationship with wood focusing on hand tool woodworking. Dodie’s love for chairs, sculpted furniture, and building with hand tools took off in 2016 when she completed a dining chair.
