Begin your journey by designing and sewing a soft sculpture using beginner stitches. This workshop, led by Maloof Teaching Artist Crystal Rodriguez-Leal, offers hands-on techniques for creating unique soft sculptures. You will have the chance to experiment with various shapes, vibrant colors, and textures, allowing your imagination to soar as you transform fabric into art. If you are a beginner, this experience is sure to inspire you and ignite your passion for hand sewing.
All age groups are welcome, with participants under 13 requiring a paid adult companion. This workshop series was designed for art-minded families and adults.
Crystal Rodriguez-Leal is a visual artist, educator, and perpetual late bloomer. She obtained a bachelor's degree in art from Pitzer College in 2023. Ms. Rodriguez-Leal is a lifelong learner in the construction of her work, using new tools and materials frequently. Her current practice consists of assemblage, sculpture, installation, activation, and book arts as a means of conveying the interconnectedness and interdependence of all living things. Rodriguez-Leal specializes in improving arts access for adults, teens and families through advocacy, skillshares and teaching.
