Indigo water, silver reflections, and the quiet glow of a full moon come together in this late night watercolor seascape, where light shimmers and the ocean rests.

In this watercolor class, students will explore the quiet beauty of the ocean at night using a limited, luminous palette. Working on 8 inch and 6 inch circular watercolor paper, participants will create late night ocean scenes in deep indigo tones, accented with shimmering silver and gold.

The class will focus on creating atmosphere and movement by layering washes to suggest dark water, soft horizons, and the subtle rhythm of waves. Silver and gold watercolor will be used to capture moonlight reflections dancing across the ocean’s surface, adding contrast and a sense of mystery. To complete each piece, students will paint a glowing full moon in silver, bringing balance and drama to the composition.

This class emphasizes mood, light, and expressive mark making rather than rigid realism. It is perfect for artists who enjoy experimenting with color, working intuitively, and creating a striking finished piece in a relaxed, inspiring environment. New to watercolor? Beginners are welcome.
