Description

Join us at the Maloof as Sandy Garcia celebrates Frida Kahlo Month.  This is a vibrant celebration that honors the life and legacy of the iconic Mexican artist, known for her deeply personal and emotive self-portraits. Throughout this month, art enthusiasts and admirers come together to explore Kahlo's profound impact on art and culture, participating in workshops, exhibitions, and discussions that highlight her unique perspective on identity, pain, and resilience. This tribute not only pays homage to her artistic genius but also fosters a deeper understanding of her struggles and triumphs, inspiring a new generation to embrace their individuality and express their stories through art.

The "Papers and Paint" mixed media workshop is an engaging creative experience designed for artists of all skill levels. Participants explore the intersection of various materials, primarily focusing on paper and paint, to create unique artworks.

In this workshop, attendees learn techniques for combining paper with painting mediums.

The session typically begins with a demonstration of layering techniques, where participants are shown how to apply paint over paper and vice versa to achieve interesting textures and visual effects.

Throughout the workshop, participants are encouraged to experiment freely, using collage methods to build their compositions.

The atmosphere is supportive and collaborative, allowing for sharing ideas and techniques among artists.

At the end of the workshop, each participant leaves with a one-of-a-kind mixed media piece, along with newfound skills and inspiration to continue exploring their artistic journey. Overall, "Papers and Paint" fosters creativity and self-expression while introducing participants to the limitless possibilities of mixed media art.
