Terracotta Plant Pal

with Alcira "Alley Cat" Mendoza

Terracotta Plant Pal with Sandalwood Farm and Artist Alcira "Alley Cat" Mendoza

Join Sandalwood Farm and Sanctuary at the Maloof Foundation for a free workshop. Discover the magic of the Terracotta Plant Pal, a porous, cone-shaped clay object that gradually releases water into the soil of your plants. This ensures that your container plants stay hydrated without any guesswork.

During the workshop, you'll have the opportunity to connect with your creativity by creating a clay vessel while incorporating breathing and releasing techniques. You will learn ceramic skills to shape the clay into a functional keepsake. All materials will be provided. Please note that space is limited, so be sure to reserve a spot. The workshop will be facilitated by Alcira “Alley Cat” Mendoza, a community-centered arts advocate and ceramicist from the Inland Empire.

Please note: All ceramic pieces will be fired at a different location. Participants will be contacted to schedule pick-up.T

his workshop is a partnership between Maloof Foundation and Sandalwood Farm and Sanctuary, presenting Living Pallet, an exploration of foodways, nature, and art. In collaboration with UCCE Master Food Preserver, with funding support from the Rancho Cucamonga Community and Arts Foundation. Workshops will be held at the Maloof Foundation and are free and open to the public. These accessible workshops emphasize the vital role of food preservation, gardening, and creative expression in connecting individuals to cultural and ecological heritage. Families and youth are welcome, and space is limited.
