Join artist Katie for a fun and rewarding workshop exploring the art of whittling! Using a carving knife and a block of basswood, you'll learn how to transform a piece of wood into a charming, one-of-a-kind wooden figurine.

The workshop begins with an introduction to knife safety, proper handling, and an understanding of wood grain and structure. Katie will guide you through the essential whittling cuts, building your skills step by step as your wooden character takes shape. You'll also learn how to sharpen and maintain your blade for safe and effective carving.

Once your carving is complete, it's time to bring your creation to life with color! Katie will introduce a variety of painting and finishing techniques to give your handmade figurine its own unique personality.

By the end of the workshop, you'll have learned the fundamental techniques of woodcarving, gained confidence working with wood and hand tools, and created your very own wooden companion to take home.

No experience necessary. All skill levels are welcome!
