María Sabina Ángeles Mendoza from San Martín Tilcajete, Oaxaca, known for her work with traditional Oaxacan alebrijes (fantastical creature sculptures) and folk art. She is the daughter of world-renowned Oaxacan folk artists Jacobo and María Ángeles, famous for their intricate wood-carved and painted alebrijes rooted in Zapotec traditions
